AstraYudha Federation of India (AFI)
Official National Governing Body for AstraYudha in India
The AstraYudha Federation of India (AFI) is the recognized national body responsible for the administration, promotion, and development of AstraYudha sport within the territory of India, in alignment with the rules, technical standards, and governance framework of the World AstraYudha Federation (WAF).
AFI functions as the sole national authority for AstraYudha activities in India, operating independently at the national level while adhering to international regulations and best practices.
Purpose & Role
AFI is established to:
- Develop and regulate AstraYudha sport across India
- Organize and approve national championships, training programs, and ranking events
- Register athletes, coaches, referees, and technical officials
- Implement standardized rules, safety measures, and competition formats
- Promote ethical sport governance, fairness, and athlete welfare
AFI works in coordination with WAF but maintains administrative autonomy within India.
Relationship with World AstraYudha Federation (WAF)
- AFI is the national member federation affiliated to WAF
- WAF governs AstraYudha at the international level only
- AFI governs AstraYudha exclusively within India
- International rules and technical standards are adopted locally through AFI
This structure ensures clear separation between global and national governance, consistent with international sports governance norms.
Governance Structure
AFI is managed by its own Executive Committee, elected or appointed in accordance with its constitution and policies.

AFI maintains functional independence while respecting the authority of WAF at the international level.
Athlete & Official Pathway
- Indian athletes participate in national competitions under AFI
- Selection for international events is conducted through AFI, following WAF criteria
- Referees, judges, and coaches are certified nationally by AFI and may be nominated internationally
Official Status
AFI is the only body authorized to represent AstraYudha sport in India in coordination with WAF.
Any individual, club, or organization wishing to conduct AstraYudha activities in India must operate under AFI guidelines and approval.
