Officials & Referee Program

Official Referee, Judge & Technical Officials Framework of AstraYudha

The Officials & Referee Program of AstraYudha establishes a standardized system for the education, certification, grading, and conduct of referees, judges, and technical officials responsible for the fair and safe administration of AstraYudha competitions.

This program ensures consistency, integrity, and professionalism across all sanctioned events.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply for the Officials & Referee Program, candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Demonstrate good physical and mental fitness
  • Have basic knowledge of AstraYudha rules
  • Maintain ethical conduct and discipline
  • Accept and follow the Officials Code of Conduct

Prior martial arts or sports officiating experience is recommended but not mandatory.

Training & Education

The program includes:

  • Rules & scoring theory
  • Referee signals and commands
  • Match control and positioning
  • Safety and injury prevention
  • Ethical officiating standards
  • Practical match simulations

Training is conducted through:

  • Seminars
  • Workshops
  • Online modules (where applicable)
  • On-field practical assessments

Assessment & Evaluation

Officials are evaluated through:

  • Written rule examinations
  • Practical officiating tests
  • Performance reviews during competitions
  • Conduct and discipline monitoring

Certification is granted only upon successful completion of all requirements.

Purpose of the Program

The Officials & Referee Program is designed to:

  • Ensure fair play and athlete safety
  • Maintain uniform rule interpretation
  • Develop highly qualified referees and judges
  • Promote ethical officiating and transparency
  • Support national and international competition standards

All officials must operate independently, without bias or conflict of interest.

Official Dress Code

  • White official uniform or approved attire
  • Official badge or ID (when assigned)
  • Clean, professional appearance

Appointment & Assignment

  • Officials are appointed based on qualification level
  • Assignments are made by the Technical or Officials Committee
  • Officials may not officiate matches involving personal or professional conflicts

Continuous Development

Certified officials are encouraged to:

  • Attend refresher courses
  • Participate in advanced seminars
  • Update knowledge with rule revisions
  • Contribute to the development of AstraYudha sport

Referee & Judge Certification Levels

Level 1 – District / Entry Level
  • Basic rules and safety knowledge
  • Eligible for local and district competitions
Level 2 – State / National Level
  • Advanced rule interpretation
  • Eligible for state and national events
Level 3 – International Level
  • Full technical competence
  • Eligible for international and continental events
  • Requires recommendation and evaluation

Each level requires successful completion of training, assessment, and practical evaluation.

Categories of Officials

1. Referee
  • Controls the match inside the competition area
  • Enforces rules and safety standards
  • Has full authority to start, stop, or terminate a bout
2. Judge
  • Scores matches objectively based on approved criteria
  • Evaluates technique, control, and effectiveness
  • Does not interfere with the match flow
3. Technical Official
  • Oversees equipment compliance and mat readiness
  • Assists with rule clarification and event operations
  • Supports referee and judges administratively
4. Timekeeper & Recorder
  • Controls match time and rest intervals
  • Maintains official score records and bout sheets

Code of Conduct

All officials must:

  • Act impartially and professionally
  • Respect athletes, coaches, and fellow officials
  • Avoid conflicts of interest
  • Follow official dress code
  • Uphold the reputation of AstraYudha sport

Violation of conduct may result in suspension, downgrade, or revocation of certification.

Certification Validity

  • Certification is valid for a defined period
  • Renewal requires continued activity and compliance
  • Inactive or non-compliant officials may be de-listed

Official Recognition Statement

Only officials certified through the approved AstraYudha Officials & Referee Program are authorized to officiate at sanctioned events. Any officiating outside this framework is not officially recognized.
